Carine Carmy, the CEO of Origin, speaks about the startup mission to make physical therapy for women and mothers. It would be both online and through a network of physician clinics. However with the sudden COVID-19 pandemic, Carmy had to immediately push in setting up a Tele-health service.
“Origin” started a virtual platform to deal with the health issues of females. Problems included painful sex to postpartum recovery. All this is mediated via the Zoom chat. The virtual platform is booming and helping a lot of patients. Carmy says Telehealth was planned for the year 2021 but ever since the COVID-19 they decided to accelerate and bring up the virtual platform in as early as 48 hours. The feed-back and the response generated have been marvelous!
With a Telehealth facility this startup is able to cater to a large number of populations. This obviously is also the best way to advertise the brand. The start-up aims to provide comprehensive care to all the patients. That’s why start-up has launched its first clinic for physical therapy in LA and now aims to expand in other states as well.
Physical therapy keeps in mind the female anatomy, physiology at different stages and often ignored the sufferings of females. The start-up is also focusing on building a virtual platform where expecting females can get the right information about fitness. Addressing all such issues would be the aim of this start-up.
Origin’s first clinic that deals with physical therapy is the “Bebé Physical Therapy” which has been doing exceptionally well in Los Angles. The clientele was in thousands. Few of the cases were also referred to the Obstetrician and Gynecologist. Evidence-based medicine supports physical therapy for treating Pelvic floor disorders. However there is a lack of such clinics. Origin bridges the gap between adequate access and treatment.
Origin looks forward to providing adequate care to females in terms of physical therapy. At the same time building a robust digital platform to potentially provide awareness and education. Currently there are a number of females seeking help regarding problems such as excruciating pain after having sex in their twenties. Pregnancy and Postpartum related issues are well addressed.
There has been funding from a plethora of ventures including Hippo Insurance and Alfred Inc. Post-COVID “Origin” looks to grow in business. Women need care with a number of issues and there cannot be better start-ups than “Origin”.
