Google search for ‘recipe’ in lockdown has the highest jump
While the lockdown has put the brakes on human movement outside the houses, activities are going on inside the houses. So what exactly are Indians doing at home?
Coronavirus has kept 3.9 billion people in homes all over the world. Of these 1.3 billion people are in India. Since March 25, ‘curfew like’ in the country is in lockdown.
This lockdown has been announced till 14 April. By 10 pm on 7 April, more than 4700 confirmed cases of corona virus had been reported in India. 125 people have died.
India Today Data Intelligence Unit (DIU) used Google Trends data for various activities done during the leisure time in the last 90 days. It was revealed that the interest of the people in the recipes reached its peak in the lockdown period.
What are you looking for in cooking?
The search for the recipe related to Dahi Bada has seen the highest jump. Search increased by 180% to know the recipe of famous dishes. Coffee, especially Dalgona, sprung up in searching for the method of making coffee.
Coffee saw growth of over 120%. Panipuri (Golgappe) got an increase in search by more than 120%. Among other recipes, Puranpoli, Uttapam, Hammas and Pancakes also found top spot in the chart.
